Hello to any newcomers to my website! I am so thankful to all of my good friends for sharing my page. Every share and mention really helps me out a lot! I thought that I would make a blog post to help you all get to know me a bit better. I think it's important to know a bit about the artist so you are aware of what/who you are supporting.
I love art. I've been doing it since I can remember and it is something that I enjoy experimenting with and spending my time on. But I love stories even more. I enjoy reading everything from web-comics to novel series. Stories have been around since human have been around and it's amazing how important they are to the human experience! I like to combine the visual aspects of stories through my art and combine them with a written narrative.
Being transgender and gay, I have a unique outlook on life that helps me see the world in a certain way. I want to portray that in my art by creating characters that aren't your basic cookie-cutter form. There is so much beautiful diversity in the world that I feel like is not shown enough! I can't represent everyone, but I can do my best to try to do it well. I paint for myself and what I enjoy, but also what I want to see in the world more.
This is kind of funny, because the type of art that I connect the most with was made for a very different purpose. I love Byzantine art, Medieval manuscript art, and Russian folk art. Most of that is very Christian-based, Eurocentric, and traditionally conservative. But the beauty of art is pulling certain elements you like seeing and making something meaningful and personal from it. I like to think of it as art alchemy. The world is no longer dominated by Caucasian Christian heterosexual men and nor should it be. Society is becoming much more global and I believe people from all different cultures should be represented. As someone of European birth, I do create many characters that are of that heritage because it's something I personally understand, but I do not limit myself to stay within those bounds. I research, listen, and appreciate people and art forms from all over the world.
I have a few projects I am working on currently and I hope that you support and follow me as I work hard to release them. I occasionally update my Homepage with new art and there are also links to my RedBubble shop and my Twitter in the top right of this website. I will post updates to any projects here on this blog so there is no confusion.
Thank you again for visiting my website!
